Egg Carton Animal Portraits

Free Supervised Open Studio
This summer we will be hosting supervised Open Studio Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays (2-4pm) from July 9 - August 1 for youth ages 5-12. Picture Lab staff will be available and parents are not required to stay. Each session is limited to 10 participants. We ask that you only reserve a spot for days you are committed to attending.

Your Art, Your Voice
Create a graphic novel to tell your story as your animal self! Artists will be on hand to walk you through character development, storytelling, and developing dynamic layouts. Copies of the finished work will be produced and kept on display in the library! This free workshop is designed for 3rd - 8th grade students, but additional activities will be provided for younger artists.
“Your Art, Your Voice” is the 2023 theme of Youth Art Month, an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage public support for quality school arts programs. The National Art Education Association, as a national sponsor through the Council for Art Education, administers the program at a national level, and Washington Art Education Association administers the program at the state level.

Storybook Art: Harold and the Purple Crayon – Drawing with Wire
One evening Harold decides to go for a walk in the moonlight. Armed only with an oversize purple crayon, young Harold draws himself a landscape full of wonder and excitement. In this Storybook Art session, children will create a drawing with wire art project.
Storybook Art: The Hello Goodbye Window – Tissue Paper Collage
Join us for Storybook Art, a new children’s program series at the Walla Walla Public Library. The sessions are offered once a month from 2:30 – 4:00pm on Wednesdays to provide an after-school enrichment program for elementary age students following early dismissal from public schools. Each lesson will include storytelling, Artful Thinking and art making projects inspired by and connected to the featured children’s literature book.
