Meet the Staff

Carnegie Picture Lab Program Director Tracy Thompson is a former board member of Carnegie Picture Lab 307174_2614741254247_247314117_nwhere she focused on communications and fundraising. Thompson holds Communications and English degrees from the University of Washington, and an Education degree from The Evergreen State College. She has held positions at Seattle’s Empty Space Theatre, the nonprofit arts organization Centrum, at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. She was also Assistant Head of School for Swan School in Port Townsend, an independent Pre-K – 6 elementary school, and has been a teacher of English at the high school and middle school level. In 2014-15  she participated in the Washington State Art’s Commission’s Teaching Artist’s Training Lab, an 8-month immersion in teaching strategies for creative education held at Seattle Children’s Theatre. Originally from Alaska, Studio Assistant Kristie Coleman has lived in Walla Walla for the past 9 years. She has worked for Walla Walla Community College, as well as Walla Walla Public Schools, and has been involved with Picture Lab since 2010. She enjoys knitting, reading, spending time with her three children, her chickens and ducks, and mostly, being with children  deeply entrenched in art!
